Weather-wise it’s been a wild winter, with extreme fluctuations in temperatures (wool coats one day, polos the next), along with practically no precipitation in some areas, to near-weekly nor’easters. All of which when combined with indoor heating, and in some cases air conditioning, typically results in hair that requires serious, season-ending cleansing, conditioning and rejuvenating. And as with all things, there’s a right way and a wrong way. Below are our three easy steps which are the right way to repair your strands and get them springtime (at last!) ready.
Step 1 – Cleanse
- Start with a 60-second rinse to remove the gunk that has collected on your scalp and hair strands, both of which should be completely wet before shampooing. Warm to hot water is best as it opens the cuticle to thoroughly eradicate trapped dirt, product, etc. Our Follicle Forever® Strengthening Shampoo removes harmful debris – dead cells, oil, sebum, product buildup – delivering instantly stronger, fuller hair with less thinning and shedding, along with a renewed, healthy scalp.
- Lather with a quarter-size amount of shampoo only at the scalp and nape of the neck and starting at the roots – which increases blood flow to the scalp and stimulates hair growth – and working through to the ends. Use vertical strokes only, never circular motions, which can tangle and lead to breakage. Rinse with warm water.
Step 2 – Condition
- After rinsing out the shampoo, squeeze excess water out of your hair before applying conditioner. Renessence Follicle Forever® Thickening Conditioner, a lightweight moisturizer that delivers essential nutrients to the hair for superior volume, shine and manageability.
- Depending on the length of your hair, squeeze the amount you need to properly cover and penetrate into your hands and rub your hands together. Apply to the hair, starting at the roots (for the most effective absorption of our formula) and continuing to the tips. Pay special attention to the tips, which tend to get drier than the rest of your hair. If necessary, use a wide-toothed comb to distribute the conditioner.
