Halloween is one of our favorite times of the year because any holiday that involves dressing up and consuming mass amounts of candy is OK with us! From adorable tykes trick or treating as princesses and superheroes, to adult revelers wearing everything from McDonald’s fries to ‘sexy Donald Trump’ (yep, that’s a real costume this year), there seem to be no inspirational limits. Which got us to thinking about some of our favorite Halloween-type characters, all of which – surprise! – have really interesting hair 😉

The Bride of Frankenstein

Gravity-defying, permed to the hilt and emblazoned with silver lightening bolts on both sides, Elsa Lancaster as the BoF wears a way out wig that’s a Hollywood hair creation for the ages.

Janet Leigh in Psycho

The most famous horror movie moment in history involves a shower, a huge knife, a screeching musical score and dripping wet hair. The three-minute scene took 6 days to shoot, featured 77 different camera angles and includes 50 cuts.

Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby

Very scary movie chic, her stylish NYC character’s pixie cut from swinging ‘60s superstar Vidal Sasson caused a sensation when the movie opened in 1968, with women everywhere copying her look, one we think it’s as modern today as it was then.

Herman Munster

Bumbling Herman, more funny than frightening on The Munsters sported a flat top (literally) with short Caesar bangs, both of which were popular men’s hairstyles in the mid-‘60s when the comedy aired on CBS.

Cousin Itt

Not to be outdone by The Munsters, ABC came up with The Adams Family to compete for Transylvania-type laughs, and for us the undisputed star of that series was head-to-toe hair covered Cousin Itt.
